Switching from Workiz to BuildX, in a weekend.
Self-serve import steps for contacts, jobs, and history from Workiz. No sales calls, no migration fees, no downtime mid-season.
Step 1: Export what you own
Export customers, jobs, calls, invoices, and the automations list from Workiz to CSV. Save phone recordings and message templates the team actually reuses.
Save plan sets, contracts, and closeout documents to a folder per job. You will reattach the live ones in step 3.
Step 2: Import in this order
Contacts first with call histories noted, then pricebook and assemblies, then open tickets and installs with current status so booking and quoting stay consistent.
Open jobs next with current budget and schedule status, not full history. History follows once the crew trusts the new numbers.
Step 3: Cut over one job
Run one call cycle plus one install fully in BuildX: scheduling with arrival windows, portal updates, and invoice from budget lines. Prove it where the stakes are real but contained.
Then move the rest. Most shops finish the overlap in two to four weeks and wonder why they waited.
Questions shops ask
Do I need to talk to sales to migrate?
No. Every step above is self-serve. If you want help, the help center and contact page reach working humans.
What happens to my history?
Closed-job records import as reference files attached to customers, so the story stays searchable without polluting live budgets.
Does the phone system transfer?
Call recordings export where retention allows while the number and routing plan transfer separately with your carrier. Rebuild the two or three automations that book work in BuildX first, then migrate dispatch once speed-to-booked and invoice accuracy match the old flow.
How long does the switch take?
One weekend for setup and the pilot job, then two to four weeks of overlap while remaining jobs move. Most shops cut over fully once the pilot invoice reconciles.
